''Yellow to Me'' photo contest 2005 winners announced
The "Yellow to Me" Photo Contest 2005 is presented by Nikon in partnership with National Geographic Channel Asia (NGC Asia). The contest was held between November 1 and November 30, 2005 with yellow, which is both the brand color of Nikon and National Geographic Channel, as the theme of the contest.
Contestants were asked to reply through their photographs to the question, "What does the color yellow mean to you?" The contest was open to residents of Asian countries.
The contest was held to discover what the color yellow means to people who live in a wide range of cultures and natural environments in Asia. Through our desire to contribute to the betterment of people’s lives and societies by providing products and services of the highest quality, the contest also allows us the opportunity to work together by means of photography with those who love photographs and photographic images.
Although this is the first such contest, we have received more than 8,000 entries, including many excellent photographs and a variety of subject matter. The wide range of images is proof to us that the theme "Yellow" has been truly understood and appreciated.
Ten entrants were selected as the contest winners by a panel of judges led by Mr. Quentin Tang, Creative Director of the National Geographic Channel Asia, and Mr. Cotton Coulson, photo editor and National Geographic Assignment Photographer.
The winning photos will be broadcast on the National Geographic Channel Regional/India/Taiwan Feed and ESPN STAR SPORTS Asia until January 28, and exhibited on the Winners’ Gallery site (www.ngcasia.com/nikon/) until February 3, 2006.
