Description:
Di: Digitally Integrated Design, is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras.

The most compact and lightest in the history of fast zoom lenses. Thanks to the revolutionary downsizing "XR" technology employed by Tamron in the development of high-power zoom lenses such as the 28-200mm and 28-300mm, the dramatic compactness that makes this lens the world's smallest and lightest is achieved. Its compactness makes it look and feel like an ordinary standard zoom lens, yet the versatility that a fast constant maximum aperture offers will definitely reshape your
photographic horizons.

Pros: Light, Sharp, Cheap Cons: none major

I am very satisfied from this lens. It is sharp even from f2.8 and really sharp at f5.6-8. The colors are saturated and the image holds a nice contrast. I never used any sharpening method in post processing when shooting with this lens (and I usually shoot at Av=f4). No major distortions either at either end.

I cannot understand why people complain about "hunting" under low light conditions, I haven't experienced this problem (when aiming of course at a contrasty area). Focusing is not as fast as a Canon USM but it is very fast and quite. No front or back focusing problems with my copy although I checked it in the shop before I buy it due to what I have heard.

Minor problem is the rotating focusing ring that gets on my way (and nerves) when shooting but it has to do with my fingers resting on it while shooting. I like the "rotation-deactivation" trick that the 105mm has but this one lacks.

I love this lens, I always keep it on my camera as an all-around lens and if needed I would buy it again, no second thoughts. (It is cheap, did I mention that? 250,00 EUR)
